Transportation at Tulum Airport Will Increase

Transportation Boost: Transportation at Tulum Airport Will Increase. These are the Strategies to Increase the Transfer of Tourists.

The Mexican Association of Incoming Tourism Agencies (Amatur) is developing plans to strengthen transportation operations at the new Tulum International Airport.

The main focus is to expand pre-contracted transportation services, with an eye on the increase in international flights expected by 2024, as noted by Sergio González Rubiera, president of Amatur.

Preparations for Expansion of Services

González Rubiera highlighted that the airport is in optimal condition and that the tourism sector is awaiting details on the costs of Agency Identification Cards (TIA), rates for units, and prices for fixed and temporary modules, in addition to rates for shuttles.

It is anticipated that the new air terminal will capture at least 15% of the connections that currently arrive in Cancun for next year.

National and International Flights in Tulum

For now, the “Felipe Carrillo Puerto” International Airport in Tulum primarily handles domestic flights, but several international airlines have already expressed their desire to begin operations in 2024.

This, according to González Rubiera, will significantly increase the flow of passengers and, with it, the need for more robust transportation services.

Inauguration and Future Flights

Unlike what was originally planned with Mexicana de Aviación, the inauguration of the terminal was carried out with a Viva Aerobus flight from Felipe Ángeles International Airport (AIFA).

Although it will initially be limited to domestic flights, it is expected that from March 2024, the airport will begin receiving international flights.

Presence of Mexican and Foreign Airlines

So far, this is what the panorama of operations and airlines at the Tulum Airport looks like.

Mexican Airlines in Tulum

Aeroméxico, Viva Aerobus and Mexicana de Aviación are some of the national airlines that will operate in Tulum, connecting the airport with destinations such as AIFA and the Mexico City International Airport (AICM), among other points in the country.

The opening of the Tulum International Airport and Amatur’s plans to improve tourist transportation indicate a bright future for the region.

With the arrival of more national and international flights, Tulum is emerging as a key destination in Mexico’s tourism network, offering a gateway to the natural and cultural beauties of the Riviera Maya.

Coordination between airlines and transportation services will be crucial to guarantee a fluid and pleasant experience for tourists visiting this paradisiacal destination.
