The modification will affect the planned double daily flights, reducing them to a single daily flight during the summer.

Changes to Houston-Tulum Flights

Temporary Frequency Reduction

Initially, United Airlines had scheduled two daily flights from Houston, with takeoffs at 9:35 a.m. and 12:07 p.m. However, from May 23, the second daily departure will be eliminated, leaving only the 09:35 flight in service.

This adjustment will remain until September 26, when the airline plans to resume double daily frequency, adapting to seasonal variations in tourist demand to Tulum.

Route Expansion

Tulum is part of a broader expansion strategy by United Airlines, which includes the launch of routes to emerging and established global destinations.

This approach reflects United’s vision to diversify its network, responding to its customers’ travel preferences and capitalizing on new tourism markets.

In addition to Tulum, the airline is preparing to inaugurate routes from Newark to Marrakech and Faro, and from Houston to Medellín, as well as connecting Tokyo with Cebu towards the end of the year.

These new services underline United’s commitment to innovation in its flight offering, adapting to current trends in the airline and tourism sector.

The temporary cut in flights to Tulum reflects a strategic adaptation to fluctuating demand, ensuring efficient operation while anticipating continued growth on the route and at the newly opened airport, consolidating United Airlines’ presence in the Mexican Caribbean and its commitment with offering global connections to its passengers.
